Dr Prashanth Mappa is an Endocrinologist who has been practicing and teaching since the year 2006 in the city of Kannur in Kerala. He currently works as Associate Professor & Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetologist at Kannur Medical College & Hospital, a post he has held since August 2006. He is also Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetologist at Tely Medical Centre, Delmon Polyclinic, Thalassery.

Dr. Mappa completed his MBBS in 1998 from Coimbatore Medical College and then obtained an MD in General Medicine in the year 2002 from TN Medical College & BYL Nair Hospital, Mumbai. He then chose Endocrinology as his super-specialisation and obtained a DM in Endocrinology in the year 2005 from Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai. During the years of his studies, internship, and residency in Mumbai, Dr. Mappa served as Junior Registrar and Senior Registrar (General Medicine) at TN Medical College & BYL Nair Hospital, Registrar of the ICU at Kasturba Hospital, and Senior Registrar (Endocrinology) at Seth GS Medical College & KEM Hospital. The latter four posts included teaching responsibilities as well.

Dr. Mappa has participated in several Endocrinology conferences and meetings in India, Japan and the USA, at which he has made presentations of papers that he has co-authored. He attended a special training course conducted by the Asia-Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society, at Kobe in Japan, in October 2004. Dr. Mappa is also a member of several professional medical associations in the country.
